Orchestra Concertino is a friendly community orchestra based in Nundah.
Our orchestra was founded in 2015 by Faith Lewis as Brisbane Ensemble, then in 2016 became incorporated and changed its name to Orchestra Concertino.
We cater for players of varying levels of ability and perform classical repertoire with the occasional popular piece.
We perform regularly throughout the year, generally staging two public concerts and performing at retirement villages.
About Us
Assistant Conductor - Patrick Johns

Conductor - Weihang Li
Weihang Li is an accomplished conductor, violinist, and music educator whose artistry combines precision, imagination, and emotional depth. With more than a decade of experience leading orchestras and ensembles across Australia and beyond, he is recognised for his ability to bring out expressive unity and musical insight in every performance.
A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Master of Music Studies in Conducting, Weihang has directed and guest-conducted ensembles such as the Southern Tasmanian Community Orchestra, Derwent Symphony Orchestra, and Tasmania Youth Orchestras. He has also served as a Tutor at the Tasmanian Residential String Camp (2023–2025), mentoring young musicians and nurturing their technical and artistic development through collaborative ensemble work.
Weihang’s rehearsal philosophy centres on transforming music into vivid imagery—each piece becomes a painting brought to life through sound. In his rehearsals, musicians are encouraged not only to play accurately but to feel the colours, emotions, and movement within the music. He believes performance are as much about shared experience as precision, inspiring his players to rediscover the joy of making music together.
Based in Brisbane, Weihang continues to champion artistic excellence, collaboration, and the transformative power of music within diverse communities.
Patrick Johns brings a wealth of orchestral experience to the podium as assistant conductor. He has played violin and viola with Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra, Queensland Korean Orchestra, and Queensland Medical Orchestra, was principal viola with Brisbane Concert Orchestra, and has been principal viola at Orchestra Concertino since 2017. He also enjoys playing chamber music and is an accomplished pianist and teacher: he has given solo recitals at retirement villages, performed at weddings, and in 2012 was the soloist in the Schumann Piano Concerto with Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra.
